Ceiling and Chandeliers

The organ gallery fire of 1815 permanently damaged the ceiling in the nave and chancel, and it took sixty years to raise the funds for its replacement. The ceiling in this part of the cathedral was done in the Rococo style, and you will notice it is far more ornate than the original ceiling that remains intact in the Interior Narthex. The chandeliers, each containing 2,500 crystal droplets, were donated by Waterford Crystal in 2007. They were the last chandeliers made by Waterford Crystal before the company closed its Waterford factory two years later.
