A. E Child Stained Glass Window
Only clear glass windows were featured in John Roberts’ original design. This 1930s stained-glass window was commissioned in memory of Charles E. Denny by the Denny family, who started their well-known sausage, bacon, and ham company in Waterford. Though out of keeping with the architecture of the cathedral in general, this window is widely thought to be A. E. Child’s finest work and is representative of the work of the Dublin studio An Túr Gloine (Tower of Glass). Titled ‘Sorrow and Joy’, the text reads ‘Sorrow may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning’.
