Christ Church Cathedral, Waterford - contributing to the quality of life in our city

Christ Church Waterford Foundation was established in 2001 as the conservation and development programme of Christ Church Cathedral, Waterford. Since the 18th Century, when the Cathedral was built by John Roberts, Christ Church has had to adapt to an ever changing and evolving society. The pace of change has never been greater than it is today, and the changing needs of modern society mean that Christ Church Cathedral must invest in its future if it is to retain its place as a religious, historic and cultural component of Waterford city for generations to come.

Our vision for the future is that Christ Church Cathedral will develop as a place of worship and welcome in the city of Waterford, strengthening the excellent ecumenical relationships which exist between the cities religious traditions. It is envisaged that Christ Church will become a significant venue for musical and artistic events, becoming a cultural resource for the entire community of Waterford City and County. We will also hope to forge links with the tourist sector, schools and community groups, offering an opportunity to bring history to life through carefully run programmes and lectures using the memorabilia and documented evidence available.

Christ Church Waterford Foundation Committee looks after restoration and development planning and is chaired by Edward McBride.

Christ Church Waterford Foundation Development Board spearheads the fundraising campaign and is chaired by Vacant at present.
