Stained Glass Window

The only stained glass panel in the Cathedral was made by Alfred Ernest Child in 1930. Titled 'Sorrow and Joy' it is said to be among his best work.

A. E. Child was a founder member of the world renowned co-operative stained glass works called "An Túr Gloine", (the Tower Of Glass), in 1903, one of the foremost stained glass studios in Ireland at that time. New techniques developed at the workshop led to richer colours and more decorative compositions.

Child's work may also be seen in Loughrea, Co Galway, Abbeyleix, Ballintubbert and Kilkenny.
